Leadership, mentoring and strategy, in that order.
I have spent three decades leading marketing teams, coaching people through change and teaching the next generation of professionals. The thread that runs through all of it is a simple belief: when people understand where they are going and why it matters, they do remarkable work.
I see organisations where leadership is measured by the growth of the people it serves, where strategy is clear enough for everyone to act on, and where every learner, whether a new hire, a seasoned manager or a first-year student, has a mentor who believes in what they can become.
01
Leadership
“Leadership is not a title. It is a practice of service.”
I lead in the transformational tradition: setting a clear direction, modelling the standard, challenging comfortable assumptions and paying attention to each person on the team. Good leadership is judged by how well an organisation adapts, not by how well it preserves the status quo. Change is unavoidable; confusion, resistance and uncertainty are not. My job is to simplify the complex, build alignment around a shared vision and help every person see both the destination and their role in reaching it.
02
Mentoring
“Mentorship is not about making the path easy. It is about helping people believe they can walk it.”
Whether I am coaching an inside sales team through a new CRM, developing a marketing department or guiding a graduating student into the profession, I mentor in the same way: clear expectations, honest feedback, room to experiment and a commitment that does not end when the project or the semester does. I still support former students and team members as they build portfolios, prepare for interviews and grow into leaders themselves.
03
Strategy
“Data should reduce uncertainty, not add complexity.”
Strategy starts with audience intelligence: understanding who you are reaching, what is working and what is preventing growth. I define what success looks like before a campaign, program or transformation launches, then hold the work accountable to those measures. The result is marketing that connects investment to revenue, training that changes behaviour and learning that prepares people for the world they are actually entering.
My mission statement
My mission is to turn complexity into clarity: to build marketing strategies people can execute, learning experiences people remember and teams that keep growing after I leave the room, by combining three decades of industry leadership with evidence-informed teaching and genuine care for people.
ClarityPlain language, explicit outcomes and measures everyone understands.
AccountabilityDefine success first, then report honestly against it.
CarePeople perform best when they feel respected, supported and believed in.
CuriosityEarly adopter of every generation of marketing technology, including AI, and always learning.
AccessUniversal Design for Learning, EDI&B and barrier-free resources as defaults, not extras.
CollaborationThe best results come from teams that share purpose, information and credit.
IntegrityHonest numbers, honest feedback and commitments that are kept.
GrowthEvery role, project and course is a chance for people to become more capable.
The framework behind my leadership
Transformational leadership, applied
Transformational leadership, developed by James MacGregor Burns and extended by Bernard Bass, moves beyond trading performance for reward. It engages people's intrinsic motivation, raises their sense of purpose and creates the conditions for them to exceed what they believed they could do.
I have applied it on sales floors, in marketing departments, in boardrooms and in classrooms. The four dimensions show up in how I set direction, coach, design training and build strategy.
Idealised Influence
Leading by example with integrity and a vision others want to follow.
Inspirational Motivation
Articulating a compelling direction that energises people around a shared purpose.
Intellectual Stimulation
Challenging assumptions, encouraging creativity and refusing comfortable answers.
Individualised Consideration
Recognising each person's needs, strengths and potential for growth.
How I approach any challenge
From uncertainty to measurable change
1
Understand
Clarify the real challenge through evidence, context and the experience of the people involved.
2
Strategise
Align action with business realities, audience needs and measurable goals.
3
Communicate
Build trust through clear messaging, plain language and credible storytelling.
4
Mobilise
Move people from awareness to action through practical, human-centred implementation.
5
Measure
Evaluate impact against the KPIs set at the start, refine and improve what matters most.

Teaching and training philosophy
Every course, workshop and campaign I design starts with the same question: does this prepare people for the world they are actually entering? I use the BOPPPS instructional model and Universal Design for Learning so that outcomes are explicit, participation is built in and every activity moves people toward professional confidence. Students and employees alike should know what they are learning, why it matters, how success will be measured and how the work connects to their next step.
